Families Of Flood Victims In Kelantan Take To TikTok To Seek Help

KOTA BHARU, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Several individuals have taken to social media platform, TikTok to seek assistance for their families who are flood victims in Kelantan.

According to a survey by Bernama via social media application today, a TikTok user named Sufia Syahida said she used the social media platform after being at an impasse because she was unable to contact her mother in Pondok Gelang Mas, Meranti in Pasir Mas.

In a posting yesterday, she said the last time she was in contact with her mother was at 7 am when her 71-year-old mother had wanted to wade through the flood waters to get her supply of food and clean water, after being trapped for the past two days.

Following this, in her latest posting this morning, Sufia said she managed to contact a resident in the area who requested a photograph of her mother in order to conduct a search for her in two safe places in the area where flood victims gather.

She said the individual who contacted her through TikTok would also try to reach the safe places today in an attempt to find her mother.

"If I find (my mother), I will update and ask someone to bring my mother out of there. But the currents are strong and waters are deep. The person said there is still rice, but they have run out of other food. They have to ration food as well as no more aid is getting in there," she also said.

Meanwhile, TikTok user Syzmira.bakri said she sent a posting regarding her parents who were trapped in Kampung Bakong, Pasir Mas yesterday evening.

She said her parents and other residents were rescued last night after being trapped for over a day and are now staying at a relative's house that is not affected by the floods.

“Alhamdulillah, thank you to the servant of Allah who helped rescue my mother and father from the house,” she said in her latest posting.

Before that, the TikTok user made a post asking for help by sending several photographs of her  parents' house, which had been flooded.
