KOTA BHARU, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB), in partnership with Kembara Amal Ventures, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has provided immediate relief to 500 flood victims in Machang, who were severely impacted by the recent floods, through its Humanitarian Mission for Flood Victims.
In a statement issued today, GETB highlighted that this initiative aligns with its ongoing mission to support communities in need, demonstrating the company's unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in challenging times.
The distribution of humanitarian aid, worth RM40,000, was carried out across several temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Machang. Items provided included food and beverages, such as mineral water, ready-to-eat food packs, and more.
In addition to these essential supplies, the flood relief team also prepared fresh meals on-site, to ensure flood victims received nutritious sustenance.
Great Eastern Takaful chief executive officer Shahrul Azlan Shahriman, in the same statement, emphasised that this humanitarian mission held special significance, as it not only offered immediate relief, but also provided hope and support to help the victims better cope with the challenges of the post-flood recovery period.
"Great Eastern Takaful is not only an organisation which provides health and financial protection, but also one that is deeply committed to the well-being of the local community," he said.
"Understanding the immense challenges faced by flood victims, we have once again embarked on this mission in collaboration with Kembara Amal Ventures, as part of our corporate social responsibility efforts under the GET-Care initiative."
Meanwhile, founder of Kembara Amal Ventures and motivational expert, Dr Azuraida Shahadan, expressed hope that initiatives like this would inspire more organisations, both corporate and private, to lend a hand to the community.
"We are immensely grateful for the close cooperation of Great Eastern Takaful, which has enabled us to deliver immediate assistance to 500 flood victims more effectively.
"The shared goal of both parties is to alleviate the impact of the floods, and foster resilience during these challenging times. This meaningful mission will continue, with plans to monitor additional affected areas, and step up efforts to ensure that aid, both physical and spiritual, reaches those in need," she added.
