KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) will host its inaugural charity event, Dash for Charity, a five-kilometre (km) fun run on July 5 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, in support of children with special needs.
In a statement, MCKL said the initiative aims to raise funds for Yayasan Sin Chew and Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Eden of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur — both of which are committed to improving the lives of underprivileged children with developmental and learning disabilities.
MCKL chief executive officer Dr Chua Ping Yong said the event goes beyond promoting fitness, aiming to inspire Malaysians, from children to young adults, to uplift and support those in need.
“We are thrilled to inaugurate Dash for Charity, which represents MCKL’s strong and ongoing commitment to community service,” he said.
According to the statement, Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Eden is a non-profit organisation based in Cheras that provides education, therapy and life skills training to children and adolescents with special needs, including autism, ADHD, Down syndrome and other learning disabilities.
Meanwhile, Yayasan Sin Chew, a foundation under Sin Chew Daily, supports disaster relief, medical aid and educational sponsorships for underserved communities across Malaysia through initiatives such as the We Care: Sponsor A Child programme.
The college said the charity run will also feature a vibrant, family-friendly morning with food trucks, live performances and interactive activities for children, making it a celebration of community spirit and giving.
Although registration for the run has officially closed, the public is still encouraged to donate via the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeVe6yBGtkCw9iePsqNoolbJBt4Nu6RqBm9FarWC3afDXtfTA/viewform
MCKL also expressed its gratitude to the event’s main sponsors — German Educare, Monash University Malaysia, University of Nottingham Malaysia, Braveforce Sdn Bhd, and UOB Malaysia — along with other generous donors for their invaluable support.
