SHAH ALAM, April 8 - Selangor's Teratai assemblyman Bryan Lai Wai Chong today announced that he is leaving the DAP and will be an independent elected representative who supports the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, which is made up of DAP, PKR and Amanah.
He said the decision was made to resolve his personal problems and did not want DAP to be embroiled in allegations about him allegedly having extra-marital affairs.
“I love the DAP and do not want the party's good name to be affected because of the issues I am facing. But I am still pro-PH and will not join any other party," he said in a statement here.
His decision, however, does not affect the administration of the PH government in Selangor.
Last week, Lai had resigned as Selangor DAP organising secretary.
