UMNO polls: Wan Rosdy, Khaled Nordin lead VP race, Johari Ghani in third

KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 (Bernama) -- Pahang UMNO liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is currently leading the race for the three vice-president posts in the 2023 UMNO elections.

As of 11.30 pm, he has received 75 votes, closely followed by incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin with 72 votes.

Federal Territories UMNO liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani is in third spot with 60 votes.

The current positions of the other candidates are Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (38 votes), Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican (31 votes), Datuk Hasni Mohammad (26 votes), Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (15 votes) and Dr Mohd Yusof Musa ( 0 votes).

As for the Supreme Council positions, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah has taken the lead with 78 votes, followed by  International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz with 75 votes.

Tan Sri Badruddin Amiruldin, meanwhile, is almost sure of retaining the permanent chairman’s post after securing 89 votes for a strong lead against challenger Datuk Shamsul Najmi Shamsudin, who has obtained six votes so far.

Datuk Seri Abdul Fattah Abdullah is leading the deputy permanent chairman’s post with 60 votes.
