KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has called on party members to act wisely in facing political provocations aimed at dividing the party.
Mohamad, who is also Foreign Minister, said that certain parties were deliberately raising issues to stir emotions among UMNO members, hoping the party would react rashly and eventually leave the Unity Government.
“This is my view… there are those now attempting to cross the party’s red lines,” he said in his winding-up speech at the 2025 UMNO General Assembly here today.
Yesterday, UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reaffirmed that the party remains committed to supporting the Unity Government to ensure political stability and national well-being.
Meanwhile, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said the party must move swiftly to develop a new generation of capable and knowledgeable leaders who can adapt to current technological and geopolitical changes to ensure UMNO remains relevant in the national political landscape.
Johari, who is also Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, said UMNO could no longer rely on empty idealism or rhetoric alone, but needed a strong and pragmatic leadership team to navigate challenges following the party’s loss of power.
