JOHOR BAHRU, March 17 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Johor continued to drop to 25,983 people as of 4 pm from 26,381 this morning.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said in a statement a temporary relief centre was opened at Sekolah Agama Seri Comel in Senggarang, bringing the total of centres still open in Batu Pahat and Segamat to 96.
“Batu Pahat remains the worst-hit district with a total of 25,939 people from 7,406 families, while Segamat has 44 people from 14 families,” the statement read.
The committee said the water level of Sungai Bekok at Bekok Dam in Batu Pahat had exceeded the danger level at 19.31 metres.
There is good weather in nine districts, except Segamat, which is reported to be cloudy at the moment and five roads in Batu Pahat are still closed to light vehicles.
The roads are Jalan Parit Haji Arif/Sri Dayung near Sri Dayung Bridge; Jalan Parit Jambi (Parit Jambi Bridge); Jalan Haji Arif (Sri Medan Health Clinic); Jalan Parit Warijo and Jalan Sri Bengkal (Kampung Sri Bengkal).
