KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- An exhibition and screening of Tajikistan’s historical masterpiece ‘Ferdowsi's Shanameh’ is currently taking place at the Raja Tun Uda Library, Shah Alam.

Jointly organised by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS), the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS), and the Tajikistan Embassy in Malaysia, the event runs from Monday (Oct 7) until Thursday (Oct 17).

Library patrons can discover Tajikistan’s history, culture, and artistic output at this exhibition.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship, Najwan Halimi, who officiated the event said that they were gathered to pay tribute to one of the greatest poets and thinkers of global renown, Abul Qosim Ferdowsi.

Najwan highlighted that Ferdowsi's timeless masterpiece, the epic Shahnameh, has forever transformed the history and culture of Persian-speaking peoples.

He said that Ferdowsi's work has profoundly influenced world literature, arts, and thoughts, ensuring Ferdowsi's name a lasting place among the greatest minds in history.

“The poem in this movie reminds us of the principles that strengthen societies, and its powerful message of goodness, peace, and justice continues to resonate globally with the same relevance as a thousand years ago,

“We are excited to announce a groundbreaking cultural programme that will unite Malaysia and Tajikistan through a celebration of art, historical movies, and a cultural exhibition held in Raja Tun Uda Library fostering deeper understanding and friendship between our nations,” he said in a statement.

The festival offers visitors the opportunity to experience first-hand the diverse cultures of Tajikistan through a screening of films.

This occasion not only highlights our deep respect for the rich cultural heritage of the Tajik people but also symbolises the strong and evolving cultural ties between our nations.
