KOTA BHARU, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- The state road near Taman Sri Bayu in Tumpat, which connects Bandar Tumpat to Pengkalan Kubor, was closed to all vehicles at about 5 pm yesterday due to flooding.
Kelantan Public Works Department (JKR) director Nik Soh Yaacoub, confirmed the closure when contacted by Bernama, adding that warning signs had been placed in the area to alert motorists.
“Strong currents from the flooding, which affected several nearby villages, caused the route to be cut off for approximately 60 metres.
“The initial action we can take is to close the road temporarily, as repair work cannot be carried out because the water has not yet receded,” he said.
Nik Soh also advised users to take an alternative route in front of JKR Tumpat, passing through Hospital Tumpat to reach Kampung Geting.
The incident went viral on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook yesterday, sparking concern among road users.
