Shah Alam, Dec 6 (bernama) -- Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) today launched the 30th Anniversary Of The Pearl Jubilee Exhibition to celebrate their three decades of journey in strengthening Zakat Institutions and Empowering Communities in Selangor.
The exhibition was officiated by LZS Board of Trustees Member Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda at Pustaka Raja Tun Uda, Section 13, here.
LZS chief executive officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini said the exhibition, which features the concept of an ark as a symbol of the institution's journey, depicts a strong and resilient ship sailing, bringing hope and help to those in need.
"We can see, behind me is the beautiful LZS ark. An ark that will take us through the journey and transformation over the past three decades that we have now grown to 18 branches since our inception in 1994.
"This ark is like sailing in the middle of a turbulent ocean. Such a challenging voyage in search to help those in need," he said in his welcome speech, here today.
Also present at the opening ceremony was the Director of the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad.
Mohd Sabirin said the exhibition, which targeted around 20,000 visitors, not only showcased the achievements of LZS but also raised the success stories of asnaf who had been assisted through the trustworthy and professional management of zakat by LZS.
"I hope this exhibition will not only inspire but also open hearts and raise awareness about the importance of zakat as an economic pillar of the ummah, especially in Selangor," he said.
Mohd Sabirin said the exhibition, which carries the theme 'Jalinan Harapan, Membangun Kehidupan' which will go on throughout December from 10am to 6pm, is a platform to highlight LZS's 30-year journey of supporting the community, especially the asnaf.
He said various interesting activities were provided for visitors of all ages, including information booths related to LZS services, interactive quiz, colouring competitions, the Start With Ten programme and storytelling sessions aimed at raising awareness on the importance of zakat.
