Ex-Bernama English Chief Sub-editor Karrima Laid To Rest

PETALING JAYA, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Former English chief sub-editor of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Karrima Mohd Seth, who died yesterday, was laid to rest at the Muslim cemetery in Kota Damansara here today.

Apart from friends and relatives, former chairman and editor-in-chief of the news agency Datuk Seri Azman Ujang also attended the funeral.

According to Azman, Karrima was one of the high performers who would go above and beyond to contribute to the agency and become an exemplary model to others.

“I once worked under her supervision and I remember her as a very committed and meticulous person in carrying out her duties,” he said.

Karrima’s brother, Mohd Niven, 72, said Karrima, who was the sixth of 10 siblings, had been suffering from lung and heart problems for a long time.

“She was also heartbroken when her husband passed away last month,” he said.

Karrima breathed her last at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday afternoon.

She began her career with Bernama as a cadet journalist in 1970 before rising through the ranks including as a news executive (1975), senior news executive (1986), and chief sub-editor (English) in 1988, before retiring a year later.
