KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 -- The National Sports Institute (NSI) today launched the NSI10 celebration in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the country’s high-performance sports agency.
The NSI, in a statement today, said the celebration was symbolic of the important role played by the institute in the development of national sports and the determination of the NSI staff to continue the legacy of excellence in the next decade.
In conjunction with the NSI10 celebration, the NSI will organise the NSI10 Virtual Run from Oct 10 to Nov 10, with the main objective being to raise awareness among members of the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
“This programme is one of the NSI’s initiatives to further enliven the National Sports Day celebration by the Youth and Sports Ministry. The run will be divided into two categories, namely 10 kilometres (km) and 42 km, and is open to Malaysians as well as foreigners,” the statement added.
At the same time, the NSI, in collaboration with Futurise Sdn Bhd (Futurise) and Plan A, plan to organise the NSI10-Rempit Rabu E-Race Series, which is a virtual cycling race that offers prizes worth RM10,000.
According to the NSI, the four-week race series from Sept 15 to Oct 6 is an effort to celebrate the institute’s historic day with the Zwift community, which is a virtual reality video game.
The NSI was made a federal statutory body under the Youth and Sports Ministry on Sept 16, 2011.
