PETALING JAYA, Nov 25 -- The Malaysian Football League (MFL), in collaboration with Ninox Idea and Faidh Jewels, today launched the Limited Edition Commemorative Set which comes with an exclusive 0.5-gramme gold bar in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the prestigious Malaysia Cup.
A limited edition of 999 sets was launched for the collection of fans of the country's number sport to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the historic tournament, which began in August 1921 and was then known as the HMS Malaya Cup.
MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan said the cooperation would not only have a positive impact on the Malaysia Cup, but also opens up space for various parties to join MFL in commercialising the value of one of the oldest football tournaments in Asia.
"This is a very good collaboration in conjunction with 100 years of the Malaysia Cup, what's more it involves other industries such as gold and sets a new benchmark for the MFL to open up the doors to anyone who wants to share ideas with us.
"This shows that we are not only focusing in terms of sponsorship but also in other areas to increase MFL's commercial value," he told a press conference at the launching ceremony of the 100 Years Malaysia Cup Limited Edition Commemorative Set at the MFL Headquarters in Kelana Jaya here today.
MFL chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam said the Malaysia Cup always had its own aura and the launch of the commemorative set would further boost the competition, with the final scheduled for Nov 30.
The limited set with a serial number each not only consists of a gold bar with an authenticity of 999.9 but also comes with a Malaysia Cup commemorative book, face mask, magnetic badge and car sticker.
Meanwhile, Ninox Idea director Mohd Danial Don Alfian said the inaugural collaboration was to introduce the Malaysia League (M-League) not only to football fans but also the entire community including collectors of limited edition items in the country.
"This is also a benchmark where the MFL will be better known among collectors of limited edition items especially in the form of gold bars. So, the MFL will be seen as a community-friendly entity with comprehensive involvement not just in the sports industry.
“Buyers are not only expected to keep this very significant anniversary item but they will also possess gold bars that have all-time value and are profitable,” he explained.
Mohd Danial said the limited edition commemorative sets will be sold at a starting price of RM299 each and purchases can be made through the website www.faidhjewels.com.my or by contacting Kedai Emas Faidh at 03-8071 8024.
He said buyers were scheduled to receive their purchased sets in stages after Dec 15.
