KUFC decide against signing star players to avoid money issues

23/06/2022 04:48 PM

KOTA BHARU, June 23 (Bernama) -- Kelantan United (KUFC) has taken a different approach for the transfer window before the second leg of this season’s Premier League competition begins by not making any changes to its main line up.

Chief coach Syamsul Saad said the decision to retain the existing line up meant that the team was not interested in facing money issues by signing any star players.

"I realise the majority of teams have made changes, but I’m confident that appreciating and preserving the existing talent pool is an important part of our efforts to strengthen the team.

"We know the team’s financial situation and try to spend what we need to avoid any problems with players’ salaries in the future,” he said when contacted here today.

The second transfer window of the 2022 Malaysia League is between May 28 and June 24.

After the first nine matches in the first leg of the Premier League, KUFC is fifth with 15 points from four wins, three draws and two losses.

The Perak-born coach added that although the team had no star player, they were still aiming for promotion to the Super League next season.

"Our mission in the second leg remains the same even without any star players. We will give the opportunity to our local players who didn’t find a place in other main Premier or Super League teams to play for us,” he said.
