Hoe Yean, Rouxin Cherish Olympic Experience  

SEPANG, July 31 (Bernama) -- National swimmers Khiew Hoe Yean and Tan Rouxin cherish the experience of competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.  

Hoe Yean, 21, acknowledged that both of them, who made their Olympics debut through wild card slots, need to work harder to improve their performance if they want to make an appearance at the Los Angeles 2028 edition.

"It was  our debut, so the experience and the whole environment was just different. We were there to learn as well, so I think it was a very good chance for me to learn.

"So looking forward to working hard again and then hopefully we'll be back for Los Angeles (LA) 2028," he told Bernama upon arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport with Rouxin tonight.

In the competition held at the Paris La Defense Arena, Hoe Yean finished fourth with a time of 3 minutes and 51.66 seconds in Heat 2 of the men's 400 metres freestyle on Saturday (July 27).

Despite the commendable effort, his time failed to place him among the top eight swimmers to advance to the final, as he finished 27th overall.

Meanwhile, Rouxin, who topped Heat 1 of the women's 100m breaststroke, also failed to place herself among the top 16 (semifinals) as she finished 33rd overall with a time of 1:12.50s on Sunday (July 28).

The Paris 2024 Olympics, which officially opened last Friday, will conclude on August 11.
