Terengganu Turtles Target Top Four In STL 2024

KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu sepak takraw team, Terengganu Turtles aim to be in the top four teams in the Sepak Takraw League (STL) Premier 2024 competition which will kick off on September 11.

Terengganu State Sepaktakraw Association (PSNT) president Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abd Rahman said to achieve the target, Terengganu Turtles are determined to emerge Grand Prix (GP) champions in Terengganu and qualify for the semi-finals at four other GP venues, namely in Selangor, Perak, Penang and Johor.

He said with a combination of imported and experienced local players, Terengganu Turtles are confident of achieving the set target.

"Alhamdulillah, after five years in Division One Terengganu Turtles are able to play in the Premier competition this season.

"We want to return the team to the top four in the league. Our target is to become champions in the Terengganu circuit (GP) on Sept 24 to 28. God willing, we will use the advantage of hosting as best as possible," he said after the launch of the STL Terengganu Turtles PSNT 2024 team here.

Accordingly, Tengku Zaihan requested strong support from Terengganu sepak takraw fans to go to the Gong Badak Indoor Stadium on that date to cheer for the players.

According to him, the strongest challenge of STL 2024 will definitely come from last year's STL championship holders, Perak Bison and Kuala Lumpur Thunder, which are also lined up with many national players.

"Nevertheless, we cannot look down on a joint-team like KPT-Masum Knights who are equally good," he said.

This season Terengganu Turtles line-up comprises eight players including three Thai imports namely Teerapat Promnin, Jatuporn Taluengjit and Sutthikirat Pansaenkaew.

The local players are Muhammad Zulkifli Abd Razak, Alif Mursyid Rusli, Muhammad Khairul Aman Mohd Rosdi, Muhamad Zulkusni Basri and Muhammad Jazimin Zainal Abidin.
