KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- The International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) has formally initiated disciplinary proceedings against the Pilipinas Sepaktakraw Association Inc (PSTAI) president Karen Tanchanco-Caballero over multiple violations of ISTAF's constitution and disciplinary procedures.

ISTAF said in a statement today that its executive committee endorsed the disciplinary proceedings against Tanchanco-Caballero during a meeting last Friday in Korat, Thailand and that she faces five distinct charges related to actions deemed to have undermined the world sepaktakraw’s governing body’s ethical standards and reputation.

"These charges include public statements and conducts that are alleged to have violated the ISTAF’s principles of governance and integrity," it said, adding that Tanchanco-Caballero has been suspended from all her duties, both locally and internationally, until further notice.

"This suspension is intended to preserve the integrity of the proceedings and to maintain the high standards expected of sepaktakraw’s international leadership,”  the statement read.

ISTAF also had formally notified PSTAI secretary-general Irene Virginia Ng-Tanchanco about the charges against Tanchanco-Caballero in line with ISTAF’s commitment to transparency, and demanded PSTAI to state its position regarding the actions of its president.
