Wushu Squad Bring Home Three Gold Medals From Asian Wushu C'ships In Macau

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The national wushu squad ended the 10th Asian Wushu Championship campaign in Macau with an excellent performance by bringing home three gold, four silver and three bronze medals from the tournament which started on Thursday and ended today. 

According to the site http://wsresult.justtool.com/ResultsInfo saw the country's first gold medal appear through the country's male wushu exponent Bryan Ti Kai Jie in the men's nanquan event with 9,696 points, ahead of South Korean Yun Donghae (9,690), and a Vietnam exponent (9,690). 

Malaysia continued its streak of excellence through Tan Cheong Min for the country's second gold medal in the women's nandao event with a score of 9.693 leaving Uzbekistan's challenger Latisheva Darya (9.690) in second place for the silver medal and Iranian Asadian Helia to take home the bronze (9.676). 

The men's doubles event also contributed a gold through Muhammad Danish Aizad, Si Shin Peng and Bryan with a total of 9.593 points leaving the Philippines (9.556) and Hong Kong (9.536) squads to take second and third placing. 

Meanwhile, Malaysia also won a silver medal in the men's nandao event through Bryan with 9,703 points and Muhammad Danish Aizad in the men's changquan event (9,710) besides Cheong Min also contributed another silver medal in the women's nangun event with 9,693 points. 

The respective bronze medals were lined up by Si Shin Peng in the men's Jianshu event (9.693), Clement Ting Su Wei for the gunshu event men (9.969) and Wong Zhi Hong-Sydney CHIN Sy Xuan in the mixed taijiquan event with (9.743). for the country in conjunction with the celebration of Malaysia Day tomorrow. 

Malaysian Wushu Association president Datuk Chong Kim Fatt said the success was a perfect present for the country celebrating Malaysia Day tomorrow.

“Malaysia ranked second in the Taolu category medal chart. This success was achieved as a result of the cooperation of the Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPM), the National Sports Council (MSN) and the National Sports Institute (ISN) as well as PWM),” he said.
