KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- National youth bowler Adania Redzwan has pledged to contribute part of her 24th Milo Storm Under 22 (U22) International Junior All-Stars RM10,000 prize money to buy her grandfather a hearing aid after finishing second in the girl's Open category.

The 19-year-old lost 178-221 to Singapore's Hazel Tan in the stepladder final at Sunway Mega Lanes today but was nonetheless proud of her achievement.

"My grandfather recently discovered he has hearing difficulties, so I'm glad I can contribute towards his hearing aid.

"This was my first time competing in the stepladder finals since joining the national youth team last year. I performed exceptionally well in the finals, especially compared to the qualifying rounds where I struggled with spare conversions.

"This runner-up finish marks my best individual performance on the international stage and I'm determined to build on it," said Adania in a statement, adding that she will now focus on the Asian Youth Championships in Malaysia next year.

Adania has had a good year, winning Malaysia's first-ever team gold at the World Youth Championships in Incheon last July alongside teammates Adelia, Nur Hazirah Ramli and Anis Hannani Romzi.

Meanwhile, in the men's Open division, South Korea took the top three spots, with Kim Tae Jin claiming the title and RM25,000 after beating champion Bae Jung Hun (216-194, 270-258), while compatriot Park Hyeon Sang finished third after beating Singapore's Jason Leung.

Malaysia's Danial Abu Samah placed sixth, earning RM2,000 and securing a valuable opportunity for specialised training.

As the highest-ranked Malaysian in the boys' Open, Danial won a customised individual training session with a certified coach at the prestigious Kegel Training Centre (KTC) in Florida, United States.
