KUWAIT URGES ITS NATIONALS TO LEAVE LEBANON AMID FEARS OF WAR

22/06/2024 12:46 PM

ANKARA, June 22 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Kuwait on Friday urged its nationals in Lebanon  to leave as soon as possible amid growing fears of a war between Israel and the Lebanese group, Hezbollah, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.

Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry also asked nationals not to go to Lebanon "at the present time in view of the security situation taking place in the region."

Israeli media, including the news portal, Walla, reported earlier that Hezbollah may launch a preemptive surprise attack against Israel.

Israeli military approved operational plans Tuesday for a wide-scale attack on Lebanon amid rising border tensions with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah, for its part, links the cessation of its attacks on Israel to the end of Israel's onslaught on Gaza.

Tensions have soared along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 37,450 victims since Oct 7.
