BIDEN'S FOREIGN POLICY ON MIDEAST 'LARGELY UNSUCCESSFUL' -- MUSLIM AMERICAN COUNCIL

17/07/2024 08:27 PM

WASHINGTON, July 17 (Bernama-Sputnik) -- US President Joe Biden's policy in the Middle East has been largely unsuccessful considering he's been unable to resolve any issues in the region, said Secretary General of the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), Oussama Jammal, to Sputnik.

"Biden's foreign policy in the Middle East has been largely unsuccessful, with no notable achievements in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Iraq, or Tunisia," Jammal said. "There isn't a single issue in these regions where he can be credited with success or resolution."

Jammal also highlighted the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the rapid fall of the US-backed Afghan government to the Taliban.

Jammal also mentioned the United States has not done anything meaningful to settle the situation in Myanmar.

"Given these disappointments with President Biden’s policies, some Muslim Americans may consider supporting alternative candidates who better align with their values and concerns," Jammal said. "This could include third-party candidates or even abstaining from voting, which would significantly impact the electoral landscape."

In March, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said it conducted a poll that found that a combined 37 per cent of Muslim American voters would prefer a third-party candidate over Biden and Republican nominee Donald Trump.
