GLOBAL CYBER OUTAGE: MORE AIRLINES AND TERMINAL SERVICES HIT

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 July (Bernama) -- A global cyber outage has impacted airline operations and terminal services, causing delays and disruptions across the globe.

Australia’s Sydney Airport on its X account @SydneyAirport reported that a global technical outage has impacted some airline operations and terminal services.

The airport said that flights are currently arriving and departing, but warned of some potential delays throughout the evening.

"We have activated our contingency plans and deployed additional staff to our terminals.

“If you're travelling today, make sure you leave plenty of time to come to the airport and check with your airline regarding the status of your flight," it said.

Melbourne Airport via @Melair on X platform reported that they are experiencing a global technology issue which is impacting check-in procedures for some airlines.

“Passengers flying with these airlines this afternoon are advised to allow a little extra time to check in. Please check with your airline for flight updates,” it said.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s @Schiphol X platform feed reported a global system failure affecting flights to and from Schiphol.

“The impact is now being assessed. Do you have a question about your flight? Please contact your airline,” the airport said.

India’s Delhi Airport via its @DelhiAirport X account said  some of the services at the airport were temporarily impacted due to the global IT issue.

"We are closely working with all our stakeholders to minimise the inconvenience to our flyers," it said.

London Gatwick Airport @Gatwick_Airport reported being affected by the global Microsoft issues, resulting in possible delays during check-in and security procedures.

"Passengers should still arrive for their normal check-in time. We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible," it said.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport alerted passengers via its @berlinairport X platform : “Information for passengers: Due to a technical fault, there will be delays in check-in."

Meanwhile, low-cost airline Ryanair warned of "potential disruptions across the network" due to a global third party system outage, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

On the airline's website, it posted: "Potential disruptions across the network (Fri 19 July) due to a global 3rd party system outage.

"Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling across the network on Fri 19 July should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight.

"We advise passengers to arrive at the airport 3 hours in advance of their flight to avoid any disruptions.

"We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by this 3rd party IT issue, which is outside of Ryanair's control and affects all airlines operating across the network."
