EMGS To Woo More Thai Students To Pursue Education In Malaysia

BANGKOK, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), aims to attract more students from Thailand to pursue their tertiary education in Malaysia.

EMGS chief executive officer Novie Tajuddin said Malaysia’s strong standing in the global academic arena, with eight internationally acclaimed universities and eight subjects recognised in the prestigious QS World University Ranking by Subjects, makes it an ideal education destination for Thai students.

These institutions contribute significantly to Malaysia’s reputation for delivering world-class education in key areas, he told Bernama at the “Study in Malaysia Education Fair" roadshow, here, on Wednesday.

He added that the country’s geographical proximity to Thailand, affordability, and quality education are also among the advantages that attract Thai students to choose Malaysia.

Novie pointed out that Thailand currently ranks fifth among Southeast Asian countries in choosing Malaysia as their preferred study destination.

“In 2023, we received over 372 new applications from Thai students interested in studying in Malaysia. As of May this year, EMGS had already received 117 new applications from Thailand.

“We are looking to attract more Thai students.” 

EMGS is a company under the purview of the Higher Education Ministry, primarily responsible for facilitating the visa processing for all international students and promoting Malaysia as a global hub for talent and knowledge.
