Over 9,500 Cases Of Apple Juice Recalled From Us Walmart Stores

WASHINGTON, Aug 26 (Bernama-UPI) -- Refresco Beverages US Inc has recalled 9,535 cases of 8-ounce Great Value Apple Juice sold at Walmart, United Press International (UPI) reported according to an announcement by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA said that the apple juice contains inorganic arsenic levels above the industry action level, leading to an upgrade of the recall to Class II.

This classification indicates that the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects, although the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered remote.

The FDA highlighted that inorganic arsenic is more harmful than its organic counterpart, with long-term exposure linked to skin disorders, an increased risk of skin, bladder, and lung cancers, as well as cardiovascular disease.

Short-term exposure can result in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, bruising, and numbness or burning sensations in the hands and feet.

The recalled apple juice was sold in six-packs with a UPC code of 0-78742-29655-5 and carries a best-by date of December 2024.

The FDA has published an interactive online map showing the states where the juice was sold, all of which are located east of the Mississippi River.

No affected stores are located west of the river, according to the FDA.
