BANGKOK, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Thailand's new cabinet line-up is expected to receive royal endorsement this week, with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra currently finalising the list.

After a thorough vetting of the backgrounds and qualifications of the 35 candidates, Paetongtarn will present the list to King Maha Vajiralongkorn for royal endorsement.

Acting Thailand Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said the cabinet list is with Prime Minister Paetongtarn, who will decide which candidate will hold each position.

Phumtham noted that once the list is finalised, it will be submitted to the King for approval and endorsement.

"I believe the first cabinet meeting will be held immediately after His Majesty endorses the list. During this meeting, the new Secretary-General to the Prime Minister will be appointed, and the policies to be submitted to the House of Representatives will be discussed," he told reporters before chairing the cabinet meeting here on Tuesday.

He expects the entire process to be completed by Sept 15, after which all appointed ministers will begin their duties immediately.

Paetongtarn was elected by the Thailand House of Representatives as prime minister on Aug 16, succeeding her predecessor, Srettha Thavisin, who was dismissed by the Constitutional Court on Aug 14.
