Tourism Authority Of Thailand To Host Amazing Thai Fest In India

05/09/2024 11:07 PM

BANGKOK, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Thailand is set to captivate Indian audiences with its vibrant culture and stunning landscapes as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) brings the ‘Amazing Thailand Fest 2024 @ Chennai’ and ‘Amazing Thailand: Director’s Cut’ to Chennai, India from September 27 to 29.

These events aim to showcase the 'Five Must-Do' experiences in Thailand, further strengthening ties between Thailand and India through tourism and cultural exchange.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the "Amazing Thailand Fest" underscores Thailand's strategy to expand its reach to additional Indian cities while fostering strong relations between Thailand and India, and this is achieved by promoting tourism and enhancing cultural understanding.

“The ‘Amazing Thailand Fest @ Chennai’ will take place at the Central Atrium, Express Avenue Mall. The event will feature a variety of activities designed to leave lasting impressions and highlight Thailand’s soft power. These activities are based on the concept of the ‘Five Must-Do’ experiences in Thailand: Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must Seek, and Must See,” she said in a statement on Thursday.

Thapanee emphasised that the “Amazing Thailand: Director’s Cut” on Sept 28 at the Hyatt Regency Chennai will promote travel to locations in Thailand featured in Indian films. Both events align with the Thai government’s vision to stimulate economic growth through tourism.

“The ‘Amazing Thailand: Director’s Cut’ will spotlight Thailand's appeal as a film destination. The film industry is a rapidly growing and highly regarded sector in India, particularly in Chennai,” she added.

Thapanee said the TAT is organising these events in collaboration with several partners, including the Royal Thai Consulate General in Chennai, the Thai Trade Center (Commercial Section), and the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) in Mumbai.

India remains one of Thailand’s top five visitor markets, with the number of Indian tourists expected to reach 1.7 million this year.

This projection is supported by favourable factors, such as Thailand’s visa exemption policy, which allows Indian travellers to visit for tourism and short-term business engagements for up to 60 days, with an option to extend for another 30 days.
