NEW DELHI, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- A vibrant Malaysian food and culture festival in Islamabad has been captivating Pakistani taste buds with its diverse culinary offerings.

The week-long “Journey to Malaysia: Exploring Diverse Flavours and Culinary Traditions of Southeast Asia” has attracted an average of 200 people daily since its opening on Wednesday.

The event, launched in a collaboration between the Islamabad Serena Hotel and the Malaysian High Commission, supports Malaysia's cultural diplomacy in Pakistan as well as the country's ongoing efforts to put the "Malaysian Breakfast Culture" on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

"This festival is a celebration of our shared heritage and the bonds that unite us as neighbours in this vibrant region of Asia. Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures, and our cuisine is a testament to this diversity, blending influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions," Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan Datuk Mohammad Azhar Mazlan said.

Attendees were delighted to savour Malaysian dishes such as nasi lemak, roti canai and teh tarik, which are part of Malaysia's all-day breakfast culture.

The gastronomic experience is complemented by cultural dance performances from various Malaysian states.
