SINGAPORE

 

1. SINGAPORE WILL HAVE LARGEST SHARE OF PASSENGER EVS IN S-E ASIA BY 2040: REPORT -- THE STRAITS TIMES

Singapore is forecast to have the largest share of passenger electric vehicles (EVs) in South-east Asia by 2040, according to a report from Bloomberg’s energy research service BloombergNEF.  

 

2. ASIAN MARKETS CAN RECOVER AND RISE FURTHER DESPITE VOLATILITY: ANALYSTS -- CNA

Stock markets in Asia can recover and remain resilient in spite of volatility, observers said following a sell-off in the first week of September.

 

CAMBODIA

 

   1.   PRABOWO AND HUN SEN FIRM UP BILATERAL RELATIONS -- KHMER TIMES 

During his visit to Cambodia last week, Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Acting Head of State and Senate President Hun Sen discussed enhancing bilateral trade ties, defence cooperation, the conflict in Myanmar and the South China Sea issue. This year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Indonesia. 

 

2. CAMBODIA, CHINA BOLSTER LAW ENFORCEMENT -- KHMER TIMES

Cambodia and China signed a work plan on Friday to continue law enforcement cooperation to tackle cross-border crimes such as cybercrime, human trafficking and drug offences. A memorandum of understanding was also signed to continue the Office of Law Enforcement Cooperation. 

 

MYANMAR

 

1. MYANMAR PROMOTES ASEAN HERITAGE PARKS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The government has earmarked 59 ecological protection areas featuring biodiversity, ecosystem and cultural heritages recognised as ASEAN Heritage Parks. There are 49 ASEAN Heritage Parks across the region. Scientific research and sustainable heritage processes are also being conducted with public participation.

 

2. BAMBOO SHOOT PRODUCTION USING TECHNOLOGY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Local entrepreneurs are relying on the latest technologies to produce dried bamboo shoots to meet yearly demand of 200 tonnes from China, Japan and Thailand. Growers use Chinese and Japanese technologies to grow bamboo shoots to meet rising international demand. A special zone in Nay Pyi Taw to produce bamboo shoots is planned.

1. GROWING PASSION FOR  VIETNAMESE LANGUAGE IN MALAYSIA - - VIETNAM NEWS AGENCY

More students are now enrolling to learn the Vietnamese language in Kuala Lumpur. The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia conducts in-person and online classes. University Malaysia’s Faculty of Language and Linguistics witnessed a rise in enrollment of about 140 students. 

 

2. RISING RED RIVER DESTROYS HOMES, TOWNS -- VIETNAM PLUS

The rising water level in the Red River following the fall of Typhoon Yagi over the weekend has damaged more than 1,000 homes in the northern part of Vietnam. Residents are moving to temporary shelters as homes and roads are destroyed due to heavy floods.

1. LOW MEASLES VACCINATION IN 3 SOUTHERN BORDER PROVINCES CAUSES 5 DEATHS -- THE NATION

The Disease Control Department plans to rush measle vaccines to young school kids in the three southern border provinces after the disease outbreak killed five people there last month, the department chief said.

The Rice Department wants to increase the profile of Thai rice on the global stage, by promoting unique strains with certified, geographical indication (GI) labels to a wider market.
