Malaysians Host Vibrant Celebration In Belgium In Conjunction With National Day

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Association of Belgium and Luxembourg (MABL) organised a vibrant celebration and exhibition in Wilsele, Belgium on September 7, in conjunction with Malaysia's 67th National Day.

MABL President Sarala Shambulingam Vanherck said the event, a highlight for the Malaysian community, drew over 190 attendees, including Malaysia’s Ambassador to Belgium, Mohd Khalid Abbasi Abdul Razak, his wife Datin Aniza Mohamad Tamil, and guests from Belgium, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands.

Guests were treated to a variety of cultural show, including the Malaysia Pavilion, a Batik painting demonstration, and a Tourism Malaysia exhibition featuring travel brochures from Avelede Paris and Thai Airways, as well as handmade bags from EmbunEmbun Langkawi.

“The performances were truly spectacular,” Sarala said in a statement Tuesday.

“We had Malay dancers from Luxembourg, Chinese dancers from Brussels, a talented Indian dancer, Ashu Devgune, Silat performers from Paris, the Sabahan dance group led by Matthew and friends, and our very own dancers, Punitha and Mugilan.”

Culinary delights were a major highlight, with a buffet featuring Malaysian street food, nasi lemak, and Indian cuisine. Additional dishes were prepared to meet the enthusiastic demand from the guests.

Sarala also expressed her appreciation for the participation of the Malaysian Association of the Netherlands (MANL), represented by Cris de Raaff, and the Malaysian Association of France, represented by Yap Choon Chong.

She extended her gratitude to all the volunteers and contributors, including Chef Ena and Yus from Makan-Makan Malaysia, Chef Isha from Leuven Chicken Rice, Nancy Teh, and the dedicated MABL executive team, for making the celebration a truly memorable event.
