Brunei Sultan Urges Major Energy Firms To Stay Competitive

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept 11 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah chaired the board meeting of the country’s energy companies and stressed the importance of remaining competitive in the future, reported Xinhua, citing official media on Wednesday.

According to the official media Pelita Brunei, the sultan chaired the board meetings of the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company and Brunei Shell Marketing Company on Tuesday, emphasising the importance of Brunei's major energy companies collaborating in planning, enhancing returns, and fostering business growth to stay competitive in the future.

The sultan stated that there is a need for cooperation with relevant agencies to uphold high integrity in all activities, considering the extensive operations of Brunei's major energy companies with vendors and contractors.

Brunei is located in Southeast Asia, and the country's proven oil reserves stood at 1.4 billion barrels in 2023, while natural gas reserves about 300 billion cubic metres.
