MYANMAR

 

1. RISING SEAFOOD EXPORTS FROM MYANMAR -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar shipped out over 124,700 tonnes of various fish worth about US$137 million in the past five months. Seafood, including fish and shrimp, are exported to more than 40 countries directly through Yangon, while some are delivered through land borders.

 

2. INCREASING SUNFLOWER CULTIVATION FOR OIL -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Sunflower cultivation will cover some 20,000 acres this winter in Yangon to meet the growing local demand for its oil. Edible oil crops such as sunflower, peanut and sesame will be grown in 14 townships in seven districts. Technical assistance to assist farmers is being rolled out.

1.FURNITURE EXPORTS TOUCH US$4.2 BILLION -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnam’s leading wood processing hub Binh Duong province exported wood products worth over US$4 billion in the first eight months. Producers adapt to new market requirements by investing in green production and clean supply chains to meet the demand for quality wood products. 

 

2. GLOBAL AID AFTER TYPHOON YAGI -- VIETNAM NEWS

ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management has joined a list of international donors in offering humanitarian aid to those affected by Typhoon Yagi that ravaged some Vietnams in recent days. Australia, Japan and the US have started sending assistance to the Vietnamese people.
