1. LAOS HOSTS FIRST LOGISTICS FAIR TO SHOWCASE ACHIEVEMENTS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The country’s first Laos Logistics Fair from 11-12 October will showcase its infrastructure developments to the world. The trade fair coincides with the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2024. Laos has enhanced its regional and global logistics and supply chain network.

 

2. WORLD BANK’S FUNDS FOR UPGRADING RURAL ROADS -- LAOTIAN TIMES

The World Bank has approved RM236.32 million (US$56 million) to improve the road and transportation system in the impoverished areas in Laos that will benefit about 600,000 people. This six-year project will enhance transportation infrastructure in central and southern Laos.

 

MYANMAR 

 

1. CAMPAIGN TO PROTECT POPA LANGUR MONKEYS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The “Don’t catch, don’t sell” campaign launched to protect Popa Langur monkeys in the Mount Popa region. The species are only found in Myanmar with 300 left in the world. Poachers trap the monkeys to sell as pets because of their beautiful appearance or they are killed for food. 

           

2. MYANMAR EXPORTS WHITE SHRIMPS TO CHINA, JAPAN -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar white shrimps produced by commercial farms in the Taninthayi Region are being exported to China and Japan due to their fine quality. Over 200 breeding ponds produce the white shrimp once every four months and sold to both countries where demand is high.
