INDONESIA

 

1.FOREIGN OUTFLOWS HIT IDX AS MARKET CAP SHRINKS BY US$22 BILLION IN A WEEK -- JAKARTA GLOBE

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) faced a challenging week, with market capitalization declining by 2.67 pe rcent to Rp12.531 trillion (US$799.68 billion) from Rp 12.875 trillion the previous week. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) also saw a significant drop of 2.61 percent, closing at 7,496.09, compared to 7,696.92 in the prior week.

 

2.BALI NAMED AMONG WORLD’S TOP DESTINATIONS EXPERIENCING OVER-TOURISM -- THE BALI SUN

As Bali awaits hearing the final draft of new legislation that will ban the development of new hotels, resorts, and entertainment venues in the island’s most popular hotspots for upwards of two years, the province is consistently listed among the world’s top destinations most affected by over-tourism.

 

MYANMAR

 

1. CASH REWARDS FOR REPORTING ILLEGAL TRADE -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF             MYANMAR

The government is rewarding RM400 to the public who tip off authorities of any illegal trade in states or regions to eradicate unlawful activities effectively. Authorities managed to seize timber, consumer goods, foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles used for smuggling with the public’s help.

 

2. MYANMAR CELEBRATES WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Ministry of Education joined the international community to honour the World Teachers’ Day 2024        celebration under the United Nations’ theme of “Valuing Teacher Voices”.  Honorary persons and outstanding teachers were honoured at a large gathering held in the capital Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. 

 

 

VIETNAM

 

1. CULTURAL FESTIVAL TO PROMOTE HANOI AS A PEACEFUL DESTINATION -- HANOI TIMES

The "Cultural Festival for Peace" programme kicks off today in Hanoi to promote the capital as a peace-loving and tourists-friendly city. It also marks the quarter-century anniversary of the liberation of the city from colonial powers.

 

2. HEALTH AND CRIMINAL DIGITAL CERTIFICATES FOR VIETNAMESE -- HANOI TIMES

The government targets the issue of 40 million digital health and criminal certificates by 2025 as part of its efforts to move the nation’s agenda towards building a digital government, society and economy. Nearly 32 million electronic health records have been created so far.
