CAMBODIA

 

1.KINGDOM'S STANCE ON MINE-FREE WORLD -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment towards a mine-free world in line with international law. The government said issues related to mines should be discussed through peaceful dialogue and cooperation.

 

2.ASEAN TEAM MONITORING BORDER PEACE -- FRESH NEWS

The ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) conducted six observation and reporting missions along the Cambodia–Thailand border in the first half of January. The  National Defence Ministry and AOT monitored four northern provinces.

1.INDONESIA COMMITTED TO RESOLVING UNDOCUMENTED CITIZENSHIP: MINISTER -- ANTARA

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra highlighted the Indonesian government's commitment to resolving the issue of undocumented persons of Indonesian-Philippine descent, including Indonesians residing in the Philippines.

Germany and the European Union are funding the National University of Laos in modernising its forest education. It will equip graduates with sophisticated tools to learn about environmental management and sustainable development.

 

2.JAPAN’S AID IMPROVES WATER MANAGEMENT -- VIENTIANE TIMES

A Japan-funded project in water management has strengthened the monitoring of water supply across Laos last year. It has helped the government to manage water supply efficiently for the public.

1. PH NAVY: 41 CHINESE SHIPS, BOATS SPOTTED IN WPS IN 1ST WEEK OF JANUARY -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

A total of 41 Chinese coast guard, militia and naval vessels were detected in four key features of the West Philippine Sea (WPS) in the first week of January, a ranking Philippine Navy (PN) official said on Tuesday.

 2.UXO-FREE NATION BY 2045 -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnam aims to remove all unexploded ordnance (UXO) nationwide by 2045. The government has invested RM4 billion (US$1 billion) over the last decade to clear 530,000 hectares of land contaminated with UXOs.
