Emirates Says Last Scheduled Algeria Flight Is Feb 3, 2027, After Algiers Moves To End Air Pact

ISTANBUL, Feb 14 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Emirates said Friday that its last scheduled flight from Algeria is set for Feb 3, 2027, and operations between the two countries are continuing normally for the time being, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing local daily.

The state-owned carrier said flights to and from Algeria are operating according to approved schedules, with no immediate effect on services.

It advised customers with bookings to proceed with their travel plans as planned, following Algeria’s decision last week to begin procedures to suspend air services between the two countries.

Emirates said it would “fully comply with any directives issued by relevant authorities and would keep customers, staff and partners informed of any changes should the situation evolve.”

The airline said the last flight currently on its schedule is EK757, departing Algeria on Feb 3, 2027. It apologised for any inconvenience and urged customers whose travel plans may be affected from that date to consider alternative arrangements through their booking agents.

The General Civil Aviation Authority said about a week ago that there would be “no immediate impact” on flights after Algeria announced steps to cancel the bilateral air services agreement.

The authority said it received formal “notification” from Algeria and noted that “the measure follows procedures set out in international agreements,” adding that operations would continue during the legally defined notice period.

Algeria’s state news agency APS said the air services agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi on May 13, 2013, and ratified by presidential decree on Dec 30, 2014. Algerian authorities did not disclose reasons for the decision.

Under Article 22 of the agreement, either side must notify the other of termination through diplomatic channels while also informing the secretary-general of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The agreement allows aviation authorities on both sides to designate one or more carriers to operate agreed routes and provides for suspension or cancellation of operating licences in case of violations of applicable laws and regulations.
