BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia greatly appreciates the European Union’s neutral stance in the West Asia conflict, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said that foreign intervention would only further complicate the conflict and make efforts to end the war more difficult.

"The entire world is feeling the impact," he told Bernama and RTM after holding a bilateral meeting with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, on the sidelines of the 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) here on Monday.

In conveying the matter to Kallas, Mohamad stated that the global supply crisis resulting from the conflict in West Asia has had a significant impact worldwide, but its effects are felt more acutely by countries in the Asian region.

He said the West Asian conflict is also expected to be a focal point of discussion at the AEMM.

"Tomorrow, we Foreign Ministers will hold a meeting to discuss various issues regarding bilateral relations between the EU and ASEAN blocs. What is important is that we want ASEAN-EU relations to continue to improve," he said.

Mohamad is also scheduled to attend the 25th AEMM Gala Dinner.

In addition to the main 25th AEMM meeting tomorrow, he is scheduled to meet his counterparts from Cyprus, the Czech Republic and Lithuania.

Brunei, which serves as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations for the 2024–2027 term, is the host of the 25th AEMM.
