BEIJING, May 6 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday that it will issue a total of 84 billion yuan (about US$12.25 billion) of renminbi-denominated treasury bonds in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region this year, reported Xinhua.
The bonds will be issued in six batches, according to the ministry. The first two batches, totalling 29.5 billion yuan, have already been issued in February and April, respectively.
In order to effectively support the renminbi's internationalisation and consolidate Hong Kong's status as a global financial hub, the ministry has been issuing renminbi-denominated bonds in Hong Kong on a regular basis since 2009.
In 2025, the ministry issued a total of 68 billion yuan of renminbi-denominated treasury bonds in Hong Kong.
