Labuan’s Megah Port Management Strengthens Govt Collaboration To Boost Operations

LABUAN, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Labuan’s containerised port operator Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd (MPM) has increased collaboration with government agencies to ensure seamless port operations.

MPM managing director Datuk Seri Patrick Tiong said the move aligns with the government’s aim to eliminate silo work practices and promote cooperation among the industry’s key stakeholders.

Engagement sessions with government agencies are vital to foster good rapport to smoothen day-to-day port operations with cooperation from government agencies, Tiong said at MPM high tea with government agencies here today.

“These collaborations will enable MPM to continuously enhance its services, ensuring efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements,” he said.

Department representatives at the event were from the Labuan Health Department; Environment; Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH); Fire and Rescue; Labour; Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN); National Security Council; Chief Government Security Office (CGSO); and the Labuan Police headquarters.

Tiong said these agencies play crucial roles in overseeing various aspects of port management, from health and safety to environmental protection and security, reflecting a comprehensive approach to improving port operations.

“The collaboration is expected to bolster operational efficiency, benefiting not only the port but also the broader logistics and trade sectors in Labuan.

“With such cooperative initiatives, MPM is set to further strengthen its role as a key player in the region’s maritime industry, contributing to the government's overall goal of fostering sustainable and innovative practices across sectors,” Tiong said.
