Bernama's Chairman Appointed To Two CMI Positions

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, chairman of the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) and advisor of Star Media Group, has been named as a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) regional board member for Malaysia.

In a statement today, CMI said Wong has also been selected as a CMI Companion, the highest level of membership of the prestigious United Kingdom (UK)-based body.

“Wong has over 40 years experience in journalism and has held various top positions at editorial and corporate levels,” it said.

The CMI is an influential professional institution for management with a global membership.

CMI Malaysia regional board chairman Prof Emeritus Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said he believes Wong’s experience and extensive network would significantly contribute to the institute.

Wong sits on the board of the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute, an independent think tank, and Cerebrum, a think tank initiated by Johor Corporation.

A graduate of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Wong has served as an adjunct professor at his alma mater and at Universiti Utara Malaysia.

“He became the first Malaysian to be elected into the Paris-based World Editors Forum and was also a chairman of the Singapore-based Asia News Network, where he remains an advisor,” it said.
