Gold Futures End Lower Ahead Of FOMC Minutes

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower today ahead of the release of the minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) September meeting later tonight.

Spot month October 2024 gold futures contract decreased to US$2,626.90 per troy ounce from US$2,649 per troy ounce yesterday, while November 2024 fell to US$2,648.70 per troy ounce from US$2,670.8 per troy ounce previously.

Meanwhile, the December 2024, January 2025 and February 2025 contracts all settled weaker at US$2,650.10 per troy ounce compared to US$2,671.3 per troy ounce yesterday.

Trading volume went up to 31 lots from 11 yesterday, while open interest increased to 51 contracts from 20.

According to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on Oct 8, the price of physical gold stood at US$2,639.90 per troy ounce.
