Gold Futures Close Higher

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher today ahead of the United States Producer Price Index data to be released later tonight.

The spot-month October 2024 gold futures contract increased to US$2,668.10 per troy ounce from US$2,645.90 per troy ounce last Friday, while November 20424 improved to US$2,689.90 per troy ounce compared to US$2,667.70 per troy ounce previously.

Meanwhile, the December 2024, January 2025 and February 2025 contracts all settled firmer at US$2,691.30 per troy ounce from US$2,669.10 per troy ounce on Friday last week.

Trading volume weakened to five lots from 24 lots last Friday, while open interest reduced to 14 contracts from 53 contracts previously.

According to the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on Oct 11, the price of physical gold stood at US$2,648.80 per troy ounce.
