BNM's International Reserves At US$117.6 Bln As Of Oct 30, 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's international reserves stood at US$117.6 billion (US$1 = RM4.40) as of Oct 30, 2024, compared to US$119.6 billion on Oct 15, 2024. 

The reserves position was sufficient to finance 4.8 months of imports of goods and services and was 0.9 times the total short-term external debt, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said in a statement today. 

The main components of the reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$104.6 billion), followed by the International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3 billion), special drawing rights (SDRs) (US$5.9 billion), gold (US$3.3 billion), and other reserve assets (US$2.5 billion). 

Total assets amounted to RM587.94 billion, comprising gold and foreign exchange reserves, including SDRs (RM482.82 billion), Malaysian government papers (RM12.81 billion), deposits with financial institutions (RM3.58 billion), loans and advances (RM25.80 billion), land and buildings (RM4.57 billion) and other assets (RM58.36 billion).

BNM said total capital and liabilities amounted to RM587.94 billion, comprising paid-up capital (RM100 million), reserves (RM174.74 billion), currency in circulation (RM165.26 billion), deposits by financial institutions (RM134.37 billion), federal government deposits (RM6.75 billion), other deposits (RM64.72 billion), Bank Negara papers (RM11.57 billion), allocation of SDRs (RM27.22 billion), and other liabilities (RM3.21 billion).
