Over 60 Bumiputera Businesses, Entrepreneurs Receive Recognition At BBEA 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- More than 60 entrepreneurs and corporate leaders from various industries were honoured for their outstanding contributions to innovation and economic growth at the Bumiputera Business Excellence Awards (BBEA) 2024.

In a statement, BBEA chairman Datuk Dr Muhamad Iqbal Mohamad emphasised that the programme stands as an important support system for Bumiputera entrepreneurship.

“We envision BBEA as a platform that not only celebrates the success of Bumiputera businesses but also empowers and inspires them to achieve even greater success," he said.

This year, the Excellence in ESG Award is given to Bank Rakyat and Media Prima Television Networks, in recognition of their outstanding initiatives in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

Muhamad Iqbal also revealed the launch of BBEA East Malaysia 2025, an expansion of the programme aimed at recognising the dynamic business community in Sabah and Sarawak.

"By expanding this platform, we aim to appreciate the unique entrepreneurial achievements in East Malaysia and further strengthen the prosperity of the Bumiputera business community," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof in his keynote address at the event on Thursday stressed the important role of Bumiputera businesses in driving the nation's prosperity.

"The prosperity and strength of our nation are inseparable from the significant contributions of Bumiputera businesses.

"Platforms such as BBEA recognise and empower Bumiputera entrepreneurs to build confidence, credibility, and strong networks with industry peers," he said.

Also present were Tengku Syarif Temenggong Perlis Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Amir Abidin Jamalullail, Che Puan Temenggong Perlis Datin Seri Diraja Farinawati Datuk Mohd Din, and SME Corporation Malaysia chief executive officer Rizal Nainy.

Nominations for BBEA 2025 will officially open on Dec 1, 2024, and will culminate in a gala event scheduled for April 2025.
