Airbus Delivers First A330neo For Malaysia Airlines
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, has taken delivery of its first A330neo aircraft, according to Airbus.
In a statement today, the aircraft manufacturer said the A330-900 is the first of 20 to be leased from Avolon by MAG, setting new standards for fuel efficiency and passenger experience.
“The airline will deploy the aircraft on routes across Asia and the Pacific, as well as on selected routes to the Middle East,” it said.
MAG’s A330neo is configured with a premium two-class layout featuring 297 seats, with 28 fully flat business class suites and an all-new economy cabin accommodating 269 passengers.
Airbus noted that MAG is the 20th to join a growing number of global airline operators of the modern fuel-efficient A330neo.
To date, Airbus has delivered more than 140 A330neo aircraft to airlines worldwide.
MAG selected 20 A330neo for its widebody fleet renewal initiative in 2022.
However, the delivery of MAG’s first A330neo aircraft, originally scheduled for September 2024, was delayed due to findings identified by Airbus during the flight line stage.
Powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo will join the carrier's fleet of seven long-range A350s and gradually replace its 21 A330ceo aircraft.
