Lazada's AI-powered 12.12 Sale Generates US$483 Mln In Consumer Savings

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Lazada's artificial intelligence (AI)-powered 12.12 All Out Sale has generated US$483 million in consumer savings across Southeast Asia.

The e-commerce platform noted that the sale’s standout success was driven by consumers actively embracing AI-powered features, such as smart recommendations, virtual try-ons, AI-generated models, and more, leading to increased cart checkouts.

In a statement today,  Lazada said that the 12.12 #LazzieChatHunt campaign saw a 76 per cent surge in unique visitors, achieving unprecedented engagement.

The campaign incentivised shoppers with LazCash or LazRewards (in selected territories) to enter promotional codes via the Message+ chat feature, resulting in six million AI interactions, marking a twofold increase compared to the 11.11 campaign.

Lazada also reported a 46 per cent increase in proactive engagements with its virtual shopping assistant, AI Lazzie, during the 12.12 sales event, with over 15 per cent of these interactions centred on deal discovery and personalised product recommendations, reflecting strong consumer trust in AI-driven shopping experiences.

Since introducing enhanced GenAI features, Lazada said AI Lazzie has played a central role in sales campaigns by gamifying voucher collection, turning it into an engaging game-like experience.

"These innovations are powered by Alibaba’s newly improved Marco MT, an advanced AI translation system built on the proprietary Qwen large language model.

"Marco MT helps sellers create authentic product listings by accurately interpreting cultural nuances and industry-specific terminology, enabling precise market localisation across Southeast Asia's diverse markets," it added.
