TNB Western Energy Files Judicial Review To Challenge RM291.55 Mln Tax Assessment

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- TNB Western Energy Bhd (TNB WE), an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) via TNB Manjung Five Sdn Bhd, has filed a judicial review at the High Court of Malaysia to challenge a RM291.55 million tax assessment for the 2018 assessment year.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, TNB said the notice of assessment from the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia was dated Dec 10, 2024.

“On Dec 31, 2024, TNB WE filed for a judicial review at the High Court of Malaya to challenge certain aspects of the notice,” it said.

TNB said that on Jan 9, the High Court granted an interim stay on all further proceedings, including the enforcement of the notice, until the full and final disposal of the judicial review leave application.

It said the High Court had scheduled the leave hearing for April 14, 2025.

“TNB will provide further updates on any significant development related to this matter,” it added.
