US Dollar Edges Up

NEW YORK, Jan 11 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The US dollar rose in late trading on Friday, reported Xinhua.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.43 per cent to 109.651 at 3:00 pm (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to US$1.0245 from US$1.0299 in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to US$1.2210 from US$1.2309 in the previous session.

The US dollar bought 157.88 Japanese yen, lower than 158.11 Japanese yen of the previous session. The US dollar added to 0.9172 Swiss francs from 0.9126 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4427 Canadian dollars from 1.4392 Canadian dollars. The US dollar was up to 11.2088 Swedish Kronor from 11.1530 Swedish Kronor.
