Agrobank Partners JHEV ATM On Agro Defence Contract Farming Financing Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Agrobank has inked a memorandum of collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV ATM) for the Agro Defence Contract Farming Financing Programme, specifically for Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans.

Agrobank president and chief executive officer, Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said the collaboration provides opportunities for current or soon-to-be ATM retirees to participate in the agriculture industry.

“The programme not only offers entrepreneurship opportunities but also has the potential to be a stable income source for ATM veterans, boosting their ultimately improving their standard of living.

“It also reflects our commitment to taking care of the welfare of veterans who have served the nation,” he said in a statement.

According to Agrobank, the total operational expenditure for agricultural projects under this programme, particularly in pineapple cultivation, poultry farming, and fisheries, amounts to nearly RM30 million.

Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah added that the output from these sectors is not only for local consumption but also has the potential to boost international exports.

“The produce can be sold fresh or processed into various food products and downstream products. As such, these sectors have significant growth potential, driven by high market demand and diverse purposes,” he added.
