SC Monitoring Compliance With Take-Over And Merger Rules To Safeguard Market Integrity

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is closely monitoring compliance with the Malaysian Code on Take-overs and Mergers (Code) and the Rules on Take-overs, Mergers, and Compulsory Acquisitions (Rules) to safeguard market integrity.

In a statement today, the SC reiterated its role in ensuring that all transactions within its jurisdiction adhere to the relevant regulations.

"In any take-over offer, the SC focuses on ensuring compliance with the Code and Rules’ requirements, particularly regarding the timely and adequate disclosure of information to shareholders. 

"This is to ensure that shareholders have sufficient information to make informed decisions," it said. 

In response to recent interest in the matter, the SC stated it is monitoring the situation to ensure compliance with the rules.

"The SC would like to reassure stakeholders that we are monitoring the situation closely to ensure adherence to the Code and Rules, safeguarding the integrity of the capital market," said the SC.
