Serunai Commerce Partners Jordan To Enhance Halal Ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- Halal digital technology provider Serunai Commerce Sdn Bhd has teamed up with Jordan to enhance the country’s halal ecosystem under the reverse linkage modality of the Islamic Development Bank (Islamic DB).

Serunai Commerce said the collaboration was achieved through an 11-day diagnostic mission to Jordan.

It said the diagnostic mission, led by Islamic DB and Serunai Commerce in collaboration with Jordan’s Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, involved extensive engagements with key Jordanian ministries and regulatory bodies, identifying current challenges, capacity gaps and opportunities for Jordan to strengthen its position in the global halal economy and align its halal standards with international best practices.

Serunai Commerce said the mission also saw workshops and hands-on sessions designed to bolster local (Jordan) expertise and explore innovative solutions to improve Jordan’s halal certification processes.

Islamic DB lead technical specialist, reverse linkage, Aminuddin Mat Ariff, said the initiative represented an important step for Jordan in developing a sustainable and comprehensive halal ecosystem.

“This initiative embodies the essence of South-South Cooperation, fostering expertise exchange and innovative solutions to drive economic growth and institutional strengthening,” he said.

Serunai Commerce added that moving forward, the collaboration will focus on implementing digital halal certification modules, harmonising local standards with international requirements, and unlocking new trade and investment opportunities to position Jordan as a key player in the global halal economy.
